Esports

Esports is a form of organized, multiplayer sport competition using video games.

Special Olympics Pennsylvania is excited to offer Rocket League as an emerging sport for the Fall season. Esports athletes will train virtually through the month of September and the season will culminate with a series of tournaments through October.

Participation Information

• Competition: 1 v 1 Rocket League – At-Home/Virtual

• In order to enter the tournaments, all participants must register prior to the dates.
• Rocket League is available for FREE on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
• Participants must have access to one of the available systems to play.
• The events will be 1 v 1 tournaments.
• (If athletes only. 2v2 if combined teams) (CD)
• Participants will play in a bracket until they lose (Single elimination)

Awards

In accordance with Special Olympics sport rules, medals may only be awarded for sanctioned Special Olympics events. For Esports, none of the current offerings would qualify for earning a medal. Certificates will be awarded for any non-sanctioned events, which would include all of the at-home (“virtual”) Rocket League tournaments.

Criteria for Advancement

This competition is NOT a qualifying event for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Game.

General Guidelines

• Players must own the Rocket League game and one of the available systems to participate.
• Voice chat or inflammatory language will be prohibited.
• Chat functions can be set to “Team only”.
