Pam Velasquez

Regional Executive Director

Pam has 20+ years of experience in mentoring, leading, and building teams, executing strategic business initiatives, operational process development, and improvement, project management, facility operations, staff onboarding, and management of strategic growth initiatives. She is most proud of inspiring and being inspired by over 10K kids and thousands of young staff members each year through the power of sport. Pam Lives in Centre County with her husband, four kids, and their dog, Buddy. She loves anything outdoors such as gardening, hiking, and kayaking as well as mentoring young adults in the field of Leadership. Pam’s goal is to provide more opportunities to serve more athletes & families, increase the quality of experiences and equity of programs and make an impact for another 50 years!

Marie Costello

Marie Costello

Regional Development Director

Marie has 31 years of management, residential work, workshop supervision, marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience. She was also a Volunteer Coordinator for McKean County, Chaperone for State Games for quite a few years. She is very passionate about working in the non-profit sector. She Lives in Bradford with her dog, Phineas, and her cat, Molly. She loves to spend time with nieces and nephews and gardening, kayaking, and healthy cooking are her leisure time passions. Marie’s goal is to develop relationships with funding sources to sustain and expand existing programs and create new and more opportunities for all athletes and volunteers for many years to come.

Kristen Lenig

Regional Sports Director

Kristen has close to 10-years of experience in the commercial recreation & tourism industry. She then switched over to the non-profit segment volunteering as the Competition Coordinator for Special Olympics Northumberland/Snyder Counties. She fell in love with the Special Olympics organization and knew that is where she wanted to make an impact. Kristen then became an LDR/W Coach and has spent the past 5 years as the Central Field Director. She lives in State College and is a big fan of Penn State football. Kristen loves spending time with her family and traveling. A few of her favorite things include riding bike, playing games, live entertainment, outdoor adventure sports, and exploring local bakeries! Kristen’s goal is to better serve our athletes and volunteers in The Wilds Region by implementing a variety of sports, training, and competitions that will further develop the movement.

Senior Administrative Manager

Kathy has worked for two employers over the last 36 years in the industries of professional sports and non-profit. Through both positions, she gained valuable work experience in the areas of administration, development/fundraising, marketing, event/tournament planning, and community/public relations. She dedicated 17 years as Allegheny County’s Program Director and was a community volunteer for 10 years prior to joining SOPA staff. Kathy Lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her 3-year-old granddaughter, Makenzie Rae’. She would love to play more golf, read, and bake, but her newest hobby is watching Bluey on Disney Jr with her granddaughter. Kathy’s goal is to provide service and support wherever needed for our extremely dedicated volunteers, all SOPA’s wonderful athletes, and their families/caregivers, so that everyone who is involved with our organization has a first-class experience both on and off the field of play.
